2018 Ford Taurus Specs and Features

In the segment of full sized luxury sedans, the 2018 Ford Taurus will definitely be appealing to the people here in the US. This year’s Taurus is largely the same as its predecessor, although a handful of convenience features have been added.

Behind the wheel, it offers luxury car features. The instrument panel clearly defines the areas for the driver and the front seat passenger. The console takes up a good deal of interior space. The materials used in the car mumble “premium”. From soft plastics to wood, the interior looks good and refined.

2018 Ford Taurus Performance

2018 Ford Taurus offers three variants of engine, one a 237 horsepower, 2.0 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and a 290 horsepower, 3.5 liter V-6 engine used in 2018 F-150. At the high end is the 365 horsepower, 3.5 liter V-6 turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection. The engine powers this machine through the Ford’s automatic transmission. I’d like to add that the handling and the ride quality of the car has improved which makes the suspension more responsive and increases comfort over bumpy roads. The power steering provides direct feedback which feels great. The high performing SHO model is also back as well and is equipped with the big 365 horsepower 3.5L V-6 turbocharged EcoBoost engine. The SHO engine delivers 350 pound-ft of torque from 1500 rpm to 5000 rpm. This monster goes from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

Added Features

The list of features, technology and options available in the 2018 Ford Taurus are very impressive. Rear-view camera system, Automatic rain sensing wipers, automatic high beam lights, heated steering wheels, multi-contour seats and the Ford’s very own Park Assist are some of the great features.

This 2018 Ford Taurus is available in 4 models namely SE, SEL, Limited and the SHO. At the bottom of the range is the SE. The Limited is the high luxury choice and the Taurus SHO is the performance sedan. The fuel efficient 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine is a $995 option on all except the SHO model. The SE model receives “FORD Sync” and a reverse camera while the SEL model gets backup sensors and a push-button start. The limited model gets a sliding moon-roof and power pedals which are adjustable and are available with memory setting.

The exterior design is a very familiar one. It’s a long and a wide car which compliments its powerful look. Even the base model has a look that suggests quality and the attention to all the minute details justifies its high price tag. The recently updated grille, front fascia, and rear end makes the Taurus look a bit more sportier. Tha main competitors: Toyota Avalon, Buick LaCrosse, 2019 Chevrolet Impala.

The price range starts at $27,055 while the SHO model is available for $40,220. The new 2018 Ford Taurus has got more sophisticated than before. One of it’s drawback is its limited rear seat room space which is somewhat hard to believe in a car this big. Overall, Taurus is a good buy and I would give it an 8 out of 10.
