The year 2018 is going to reveal the fifth-generation minivan by the world-famous Japanese brand – Honda. The new Honda Odyssey, which made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, will hit the market with its more aggressive design and a new automatic transmission. It will be a great choice for the fuel-economy seekers.
As we have been informed, the 2018 Honda Odyssey will acquire unique and a bit aggressive appearance. It has undergone significant changes that will benefit the fuel-economy. First of all, the weight of this vehicle will be reduced since the manufacturers used high-strength steel, aluminum and magnesium in its body construction. The new Odyssey will get a new one-piece chassis, but also a more aerodynamic shape. In the front part of this minivan, we have noticed a bit longer nose and a new redesigned grille. The headlights seem smaller and sleeker and they, as well as the fog lights, will be using the LED technology. The hood will be redesigned and more muscular while the taillights will be C-shaped. The equipment will, of course, depend on the trim level you choose.
Inside the new 2018 Honda Odyssey will offer you three rows of seats and various forms of entertainment, so it will be a great choice for your long family rides. When it comes to changes, the biggest has probably been made in the second row of seats that will be using the so-called “Magic Slide” systems. It means that seats can be moved and folded. On the dashboard, which will get a curvier and modern design, you will find a digital instrument cluster with important buttons such as Eco button, traction control button, hazard lights and many more. The new Odyssey will also provide the latest infotainment system and an 8-inch display, Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, Wi-Fi connectivity, USB ports, 4G LTE Internet connection and other next-generation high-tech options. An innovative and useful feature will be the ‘Cabin Watch’ which includes cameras inside the cabin. An excellent choice for your family journeys, so you can monitor your kids. There is also a rear 10.2-inch screen to provide additional entertainment for the back passengers. In terms of safety and driver assist, the higher trims will be equipped with full airbags, knee airbags for the front passengers, active cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, etc.
The 2018 Honda Odyssey will be using a 3.5-liter V-6 which will make 280 horsepower. The lower trims will get 9-speed automatic transmission. However, the higher trims will be geared with a 10-speed automatic transmission which will be the first in the market when it comes to minivans.
