2019 Ford Explorer is fully redesigned model that this manufacturer prepares together with the whole line of new vehicles. Even though Explorer has always been a synonym for great design and practical car, there are many new models released in past few years that became even more popular and demanded. In order to be competitive, Ford changed many things in new Explorer, including design and size of the car, but making it be lightweight and modernly shaped. We saw the model during test driving, although it was protected and hidden.
Design of 2019 Ford Explorer should be changed, but more likely this model will have changed platform which also means the new size of the car. The new CD4 platform is slightly wider and longer than current D3 one but with almost 500 pounds lightweight chassis. Thick protection that manufacturer used to protect this model on test driving prevented all predictions about the design of front and rear lights. However, there is long rear end with almost cubic shaped truck door and almost flat roof, where obviously should be found large windows and doors. The massive front end has a wide grille with large lights and possibly aggressive bumper.
We are not sure of changes that will be made in the cabin of 2019 Ford Explorer, but there should be many changes in term of design and equipment. Spy photos we saw do not allow to see how dashboard should look like, as well as the touchscreen and commands this model has.
When it comes to the engine, there should be few changes in new 2019 Ford Explorer. As the new platform does not allow strong engines, and this Explorer should be driven by front wheels, it could have V6 engine versions only. That includes 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter existed models, together with 2.3-liter EcoBoost natural engine in the base model. Higher trims, like Sporty, could have the same 2.7-liter V6 unit with 325 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque as the current model, while there should be a Premium trim again with the 3.0-liter V6 engine and 400 horsepower. Even though there is no clear information about that all new Fords should have a nine-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Ford Explorer Release Date nad Price
It is expected that 2019 Ford Explorer will be on the market at the beginning of this year, but it is still not sure when that could be. The manufacturer obviously prepares a new line of the crossovers to be released at the same time with VW models, so they will be on the market very soon.
