2019 Kia Sportage should be an improvement from the last model debuted in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, this is only a mid-life facelift, but according to spy photos we saw, it will be a huge change from the last model and great improvement for this highly popular model. However, we are not sure in many things the manufacturer planned to change, but some of them we could assume according to spy photos and old model.
Design of 2019 Kia Sportage will be made by Korean specialist grouped under the famous KKS Studio, which designed old models, too. As we saw in spy photos, there should be changes in terms of the grille, which could change the shape and position on the front end. There are new LED front lights and small fog lights, too. The whole car is as cute and small as before, with many new improvements and changed lines.
Unfortunately, the cabin in 2019 Kia Sportage could not be seen on test driving, so we are not sure what the manufacturer will actually put there. We also know that they will put the best in class when it comes to the equipment, while the manufacturer will surely ensure comfort and roominess there. It is expected that the manufacturer will put the same tablet-style infotainment system as on other their models.
It is hard to predict the engine that the manufacturer is planning to put under the hood of 2019 Kia Sportage, but there are few clues that can show how it could look like. There are two squared exhausts on the rear bumper and one muffler, which imply that the engine could be the same as on Kia Optima GT-line. In that case, expect 1.7-liter two-turbo petrol unit with 245 horsepower. That is actually the most interesting addition to the already great line of the strong cars that Kia made in past few years. Besides that, Kia confirmed that they are considering of 48-volt mild-hybrid system as well as replacing of existing 1.6-liter GTI with 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol unit.
