Since we saw its last update in 2015, the Toyota Tacoma model has been anticipated in the market of trucks. Well, according to the information our team has got, the fans will not have to wait so long to see the new 2018 edition coming as the Toyota Tacoma Diesel.
The fans of this mid-size truck have been wondering what the next-generation Toyota Tacoma will change and improve when it comes to its well-known design. We must be honest and admit that you should not hope for some drastic changes, but it will certainly undergo some minor updates and slight refreshments in terms of chassis. Also, you should not expect the new Tacoma Diesel to come with a reduced weight, as it has been the case with most next-generation trucks. Instead of using aluminum and other lightweight materials, the 2019 Tacoma Diesel will keep using steel and appear heavier. On the other hand, this model is expected to improve its efficiency and be more powerful than its predecessor. As far as we have been informed, it will be available in two configurations – a four-door and a two-door version, both offering a cargo space. Besides this regular Tacoma Diesel, it seems that Toyota will offer a more powerful TRD Pro version, but this information has not been confirmed yet. Be that as it may, even the regular model will come with a larger grille and more cooling than it has been the case with the petrol engine versions and also enhance its suspension system. It will use the latest LED technology in its headlights and taillights and appear more aggressive in terms of appearance. The new Tacoma should be standing on better off-road wheels.
Inside the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel, you will find a more spacious cabin, able to accommodate up to five passengers. It will offer enough headroom and legroom and better comfort than its predecessor. The other features will not change much except for a slightly upgraded instrument cluster and the latest infotainment system. The new Tacoma will also include the necessary safety systems and driver assist features such as six airbags, a rearview camera, parking sensors and stability control.
Under the hood of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel, you can expect more than one engine option, that’s for sure. Some of them have been seen earlier, such as the current 2.7-liter naturally aspirated inline-four engine with 170 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. There is also a possibility of using a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the new diesel version would come with a 2.8-liter turbocharged inline-four that hits 177 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. The new Tacoma Diesel will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
