2019 Volkswagen Touareg – Discontinued in U.S.?

The Volkswagen fans will be glad to hear that the new Touareg has been planned to hit the market as a 2019 Volkswagen Touareg model. This mid-size crossover will keep its two rows of seats, but we still hope that the third generation of this model will also bring us some innovations and keep being one of the best-selling crossovers in the market.

Exterior

When we talk about the exterior of the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg, this model has been largely compared to the new Tiguan in terms of design. They probably resemble in their chunky appearance, but as we have already mentioned, the new Touareg will not offer the third row of seats and therefore it will get a shorter wheelbase. Although the spy photos have revealed only the camouflaged version being tested, we have managed to notice some distinctive changes and improvements on the next-generation Touareg. First of all, we have been informed that the new MLB architecture that has been found on the latest Audi Q7 will replace the older PL52 platform that its predecessor has used. Also, the new crossover will appear more muscular, luxurious and elegant. You will notice that the LED headlights are more angular and sharper while the taillights will become narrower.

Interior

Inside the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg, you can expect a modern and stylish cabin. It will also be very comfortable and spacious, although providing only two rows of seats. This crossover will be able to perfectly accommodate five adult passengers. The seats will be cozy, adjustable and covered in natural leather. This third-generation Volkswagen will upgrade its technology and the driver will get fully digital instrument cluster. The center console will be wider and get a 9.2-inch touch-screen display with the latest infotainment system and numerous options such as navigation, audio system, climate control, various types of connectivity and smartphone apps and others. The necessary safety systems and driver assist features will be provided as well.

Engine

When it comes to engine that the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg will be using under its hood, it is certain that it will be a standard V6. However, it has not been confirmed yet whether this model will keep using its current 3.6-liter V6. There is a possibility of getting a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that has been found in the Audi Q7 model. All we know is that the new Touareg will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and offer an all-wheel-drive as standard. A rumor has it that it might reveal its plug-in hybrid version as well that would combine a turbocharged inline-four with an electric motor.
