2018 Subaru WRX STI Review – For Sale

2018 Subaru WRX STI should have been one of those cars which change the old design and fulfills expectations, but we should not be so thrilled in waiting for it. Even though it is a fourth generation of the model, the manufacturer has not changed a lot. There is the same exterior design, with recognizable details, the same sporty spoiler on the rear end, with almost the same designed lights. However, there are some changes worthy of mentioning, like cabin equipment and design, as well as few possible changes in engine strength and performances.

Even the platform of 2018 Subaru WRX STI is the same as on the last model, meaning new Subaru Global Platform. Future buyers will find the same in new Impreza, too. So, if you feel that Subaru is like the old one, you are not wrong, as the size, and details are almost the same. To be honest, you will see new lights and grille on the front end, under old recognizable rhomboidal mesh grille, changed LED lights with large air intakes below it and rounded fog lights. To be sportier, the manufacturer made Subaru higher, placed on large 19-inch tires and many soft sporty edges and lines. The rear end is protected with a plastic bottom, where are double exhausts and redesigned rear lights.

As we said, the main changes 2018 Subaru WRX STI has undergone in the cabin, including new infotainment system and modern materials. We will mention only few technology advances, in terms of safety there are Safety Camera, Assist Monitor and a new improved driving assistant system called Vehicle Hold. The cabin is designed as those in sporty cars, including the large dashboard, with 6-inches touchscreen and practical buttons and commands. Touchscreen grows in Platinum version to 7-inches and adopts many novelties and upgrades. Future buyers will be satisfied with quality fabric on the seats, adjustable functions and more space for legs and knees in comfort and warm cabin.

Even though we mentioned changes in engine strength and performances, that includes an upgraded version with 2.5-liter with 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque as STI version. Base model still has 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four petrol engine with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. As we concerned, both engines will have the same fuel economy, thanks to old six-speed automatic transmission, while there should be offered CVT transmission on customers demand.
